BACKGROUND:

QUOTUS Inc., is a sister company to DSMA. DSMA is the largest Automotive Mergers and Acquisitions firm in North America and is one of the leading sources for business valuations in the industry.  Over the past decade DSMA has amassed a significant volume of unique industry data and is in the process of deploying that data to support automotive industry players through a new SaaS product and Company, called QUOTUS.

A beta version of QUOTUS launched in Canada in Q3 2021 to targeted customers, and the reaction and adoption has been excellent.  As such, we are investing heavily in the development of an advanced, feature rich data performance and valuation tool and a team to build and manage the product and its evolution.

We are seeking to hire a technically skilled database administrator that is responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of the new QUOTUS database along with other QUOTUS development resources. This role is also responsible to ensuring service availability and predictable performance for our production database system.

To ensure success as a database administrator, you should be an excellent problem-solver and communicator that is fluent in most data manipulation languages. Ultimately, our database administrator will have extensive knowledge of the database under their administration and display sound technical skills and administrative aptitude.

Database Administrator Responsibilities:

  • Engineer, manage, maintain database infrastructure.
  • Handle day to day data-base requests.
  • Respond in a timely manner to user-reported errors.
  • Engineer a path to high availability.
  • Support our data warehouse efforts.
  • Manage data replication and Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) technologies.
  • Manage backup and data integrity.
  • Develop Disaster Recovery (DR) plan.
  • Perform planned update maintenance.
  • Protect the database against threats or unauthorized access.
  • Report on metrics regarding usage and performance.
  • Suggest changes and improvements for database maintenance or protection.
  • Regularly liaising with project managers and database programmers.
  • Design databases with both front-end and back-end users in mind.

Database Administrator Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Advanced certification as an MCDBA or MCSD for .NET is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a database administrator.
  • Proficiency in data manipulation languages, including MS SQL.
  • Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized and responsible.
  • Thrives in a fast paced, always changing environment
  • Up to date with trends and developments in database administration.
  • Disaster Recovery planning and testing.
  • Microsoft tools such as Visual Studio, SSMS/IS/RS/AS, TSQL, or PowerShell.
